Install Stable CM 12.1 Android 5.1.1 ROM for Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos (G900FD and F900MD models)
CyanogenMod developers have finished working on the CM 12.1 Stable builds and now they’ve released them for all the Galaxy S5 LTE Duos users. Check all the info in this post in order to learn how to flash a brand new custom ROM for your device.
The CM 12.1 Stable or Snapshot builds are better optimized and bug-free when compared to the CM 12.1 Nightly releases. These builds are based on the AOSP Android 5.1.1 releases, and this means that you will get all the stock Lollipop functions along with extra CyanogenMod-based features and components.
Before starting the installation you should check the following guidelines:
- use this tutorial only with the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE Duos.
— the models are supported SM — G900FD and SM — G900MD.
— check the version of your device under Settings> About Phone menu.
— the installed Recovery has to be upgraded to its latest version, so that it will allow you to flash a brand new Android 5.1.1-based custom ROM.
— the NANDROID Backup creates a full restore point for your device, one that can be used in case the new CM 12.1 ROM doesn’t boot in normal mode.
— factory resetting the device means that you will wipe the system memory partition, but you won’t be losing any data from internal storage.
— the ‘factory reset’ removes the old ROM and it allows you to flash a brand new CM 12.1 ROM instead.
— however, you will lose all the installed apps.
After you install the new ROM you can continue upgrading the CM 12.1 ROM using the CyanogenMod Updates menu under Settings> About Phone section.
Now that you know all of the above you can continue to the next part of this post.
